Bureau of Land Management Sets Public Meetings to Discuss Proposed Routes of Gateway West Transmission Line Segments in Idaho
The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Gateway West Project Subcommittee has issued a Notice of Public Meeting in accordance with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) and the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (FACA). The Notice sets public meetings to discuss proposed routes of the Gateway West transmission line segments 8 and 9 in Southwest Idaho. These meetings will be held on February 26, March 10, March 18, March 27, and April 2, 2014, at 9:00AM at the Boise District Office.
This project is jointly proposed by Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power. The companies plan to construct and operate 230 and 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines from the Windstar Substation near Glenrock, Wyoming to the Hemingway Substation near Melba, Idaho. The proposed project is composed of 10 transmission line segments with a total length of approximately 1,000 miles across southern Wyoming and southern Idaho. The proposed line crosses approximately 500 miles of public land managed by the BLM, including 300 miles in Idaho and 200 miles in Wyoming. In February 2012, Rocky Mountain Power and Idaho Power submitted a revised project application to update their originally proposed routes, as presented in the DEIS. All route changes and updates to the plan of development (POD) will be analyzed in full in the FEIS.
